EVANSTON, Ill. - Kevin Rainford pitched a complete-game shutout for Valparaiso for his second win. For NU, junior left-hander Dan Padgett (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe) threw eight innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out eight. Freshman third baseman Todd Morgan (Shorewood, Minn./Minnetonka) had two hits in a losing effort for the 'Cats. Northwestern fell to 17-17 with its second loss in two weeks to the Crusaders.
