EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern women's swimmers Courtney Allen (Monument, Colo./Air Academy), Amy Balcerzak (Sharon, Pa./The Peddie School) and Ashley Mosher (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Lahser) all qualified for the 1999 World University Games at the national championships in mid-August. The 1999 World University Games will be held next summer in Mallorca, Spain.
Junior Courtney Allen qualified in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle. Allen was an All-American in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays, and the 200 and 400 medley relays last year.
Junior Amy Balcerzak qualified in the 100-meter breaststroke. Last year, Balcerzak was an All-American in the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke and the 200 and 400 medley relays. She was an honorable mention All-American in the 200 IM, and received All-Big Ten, Academic All-Big Ten and CSCAA Academic All-American honors.
Ashley Mosher, who graduated last year, qualified in the 50-meter freestyle. She received All-American accolades in the 200 free relay and Academic All-Big Ten honors last year.
