Paul Stevens Sets Wildcat Career Victory Record

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern head baseball coach Paul Stevens set a school record with his 305th career victory as Northwestern split a Sunday afternoon doubleheader with Illinois. Now in his 12th season at NU, Stevens holds a career mark of 305-326-4. George McKinnon held the previous all-time NU baseball win total, collecting a 304-391-6 record from 1962-81.

Freshman Zach Schara (Madison, Wis./Madison West) earned his second victory of the season in NU's 9-6 game two win.

Sophomore Jeremy Kurella (Dunedin, Fla./Dunedin) went 5-for-7 in the two games to raise his batting average to a team-leading .427.

Combined with its two wins yesterday, Northwestern took three out of four games from Illinois for the first time since 1991.
