Summary: Northwestern earned its first Big Ten win of the season by defeating the Spartans, 28-17. Senior Dominic Caruso opened the match with a win at 125 pounds, running his dual meet record to 7-1. Michigan State responded by winning the next three matches to take an 11-3 lead, but the Wildcats stormed back to win the next five matches, including consecutive pins by All-Americans Mark Bybee (174), Tom Ciezki (184) and All-American Sam Neider (197), to seize control.
