EVANSTON, Ill. - Minnesota senior Adam Dooley fired a final-round 67 to win the Windon Memorial Golf Classic at North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Ill. Dooley fired rounds of 69-67 to finish the 36-hole tournament at eight-under-par 136, one shot better than Northwestern sophomore Luke Donald, who posted rounds of 68 and 69 for a total of 137. The tournament was shortened to 36 holes due to Monday's heavy rainfall.
The Golden Gophers also held off the Wildcats for the team title. Minnesota posted team totals of 290 and 287 to finish with a total of one-over-par 577, three shots ahead of Northwestern (294-286=580).
Northwestern placed two other individuals among the top 20. Senior Josh Habig (Jasper, Ind./Jasper) finished in a four-way tie for eighth place at one-under-par 143, including a final-round 68. Habig led the tournament with 11 birdies, seven of which came in the final round. Junior Danny Riskam (Olney, Md./Sherwood) was in a four-way tie for 17th place at three-over-par 147 (73-74). Rounding out the Northwestern team scores were Erik Ciotti (t39th, 78-75=153) and Jess Daley (t49th, 80-77=157).
