EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern sophomore men's golfer Luke Donald won three of his four matches at the Palmer Cup, played August 3-4 at the Old and New Courses at St. Andrews, Scotland. The Palmer Cup matches the best university golfers from Great Britain and Ireland against the top American university golfers and is played in a format similar to the Ryder Cup. Donald, a native of Buckinghamshire, England, was a member of the Great Britain/Ireland squad.
Donald was named third-team All-American and earned a spot on last year's Freshman All-American team. He set a Northwestern single-season record with a 72.2 stroke average last season and led NU to a 19th-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
