EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head men's basketball coach Kevin O'Neill will be the guest conductor during the seventh inning stretch at Wrigley Field this Thu., April 15. The Chicago Cubs host the Cincinnati Reds that afternoon for a 1:20 p.m. game.
O'Neill joins a distinguished list of guest conductors. Last year, celebrities such as Jay Leno, Walter Payton, Eddie Vedder, Jimmy Buffett, Bill Murray, Scottie Pippen, Mike Ditka Dennis Franz and former Miss America/Northwestern student Kate Shindle led the Wrigley Field fans in "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."
This season, in just his second at Northwestern, O'Neill led the Wildcats to the school's third-ever postseason berth. NU ended the year 15-14 overall and eighth place in the Big Ten with a 6-10 conference mark. The Wildcats earned a berth in the NIT, falling in the opening round at DePaul.
