Four of NU's Five Survive Day One of NCAA Wrestling Championships

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Sam Neider (Rocky River, Ohio/St. Edwards) is among the final eight competitors for the 197-pound NCAA wrestling championship after one day of competition in University Park, Pa. Senior Dominic Caruso (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville) at 125 pounds, senior Scott Schatzman (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) at 141 pounds and senior Mark Bybee (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) at 174 pounds are still alive in the wrestlebacks brackets after sustaining one loss.

Northwestern is unranked as a team after the first day. Competition continues today and tomorrow with sessions at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. CST. Complete info on the 1999 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships may be found at:
