Field Hockey Shuts Out Dartmouth

September 14, 1998

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern freshman forward Lisa Comrie found the back of the cage with 19:18 remaining in the game as the Wildcats shutout Dartmouth on Monday afternoon, 1-0. After a scoreless first period, Dartmouth had its best scoring chance of the contest as midfielder Kristen Scopaz was awarded a penalty stroke with 28:04 left in the second half. Her shot went high, keeping the match scoreless. Nine minutes later, Wildcat senior forward Wendy DeFord (Chula Vista, Calif./Hilltop) found Comrie open across the middle on a breakaway for the game-winning goal. DeFord has now either scored or assisted on each of the Wildcats' last three goals. NU senior goalkeeper Schoen Liebert (Malvern, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) made five saves in the victory, NU's first shutout win of the 1998 season.
