EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern freshman women's golfer Emily Gilley (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) fired rounds of 75-78-80 to finish in a five-way tie for 60th place at 17-over-par 233 during the NCAA East Regional, which concluded Saturday in Blythewood, S.C. Gilley was the first Wildcat women's golfer ever to compete in NCAA Regional competition. She concludes her freshman campaign with a stroke average of 78.94, the third-best single-season average in school history and the best-ever by a Wildcat freshman women's golfer.
Second-ranked Georgia won the team title by one stroke over No. 20 Furman. There was a three-way tie for top individual honors between South Floridas Kelly Lagedrost, Dukes Beth Bauer and Furmans Jennifer Perri. The trio each finished the 54-hole event at one-under-par 215.
