EVANSTON, Ill. - Clarissa Flores, (sophomore, guard/forward, Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) has been selected to the Puerto Rico Women's National Basketball Team. She will travel with the team to Havana, Cuba, on May 4-10 for the 1999 Centrobasket Tournament, a qualifier for the 1999 Pan Am Games. Participating teams include Guatemala, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Cuba.
The 5'8" Flores was selected to the team after an extensive three-day tryout held in Puerto Rico last weekend. Flores played in all 28 games for Northwestern last year and made 17 starts. She finished fourth in assists (1.4 apg) and steals (0.9 spg). She was also the team's fifth-leading scorer (4.6 ppg) and rebounder (2.3 rpg).
