Bates Named a Semifinalist for Biletnikoff Award

EVANSTON, Ill. - Senior wide receiver D'Wayne Bates was named one of 10 semifinalists today for the Biletnikoff Award given to the nations finest receiver.

So far this season, Bates has caught 56 passes for 791 yards and five touchdowns. He leads the Big Ten Conference in receptions per game (7.0) and is second in receiving yards per game (98.9).

Northwestern's all-time receiving yards leader, Bates ranks third in Big Ten history in career catches (183) and sixth in receiving yards (2,916). With 84 yards this Saturday at Michigan State, Bates would become only the fifth player in conference history with 3,000 yards receiving.
