Baseball Takes Down Western Michigan

EVANSTON, Ill.-Northwestern got four hitless innings from junior left-hander Dan Padgett (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe) to cruise to a 4-2 victory over Western Michigan. Sophomore shortstop Jeremy Kurella (Dunedin, Fla./ Dunedin) and senior first baseman Nick Franzese (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) had two hits apiece, while junior right fielder Jason Anderson (Rockford, Ill./East) hit a second-inning home run for the Cats.

Senior right-hander J.J. Standring (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) gave up six hits and two runs over five innings to earn the win. The game was the final non-conference game of the regular season for both teams.
