EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern lost 9-8 despite roaring back from a 9-1 deficit. Junior left-hander Dan Padgett (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe) pitched 6.2 innings of stellar relief, giving up two runs. Sophomore catcher Joe Hietpas (Appleton, Wis./North) and senior first baseman Nick Franzese (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) hit back-to-back home runs for the second consecutive game, pulling NU to within two runs in the seventh. Sophomore shortstop Jeremy Kurella (Dunedin, Fla./Dunedin) went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored.
