Balcerzak Named GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America

EVANSTON, Ill. -- In recognition of her work both in and out of the classroom, junior womens swimmer Amy Balcerzak (Sharon, Pa./The Peddie School) has been named third-team GTE Academic All-America as voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Balcerzak is a three-time All-American in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and has earned a total of 15 All-America honors in her three seasons. This season, Balcerzak became the first Northwestern woman to win a Big Ten breaststroke championships as she captured both the 100 and 200 breaststroke titles. In the classroom, Balcerzak carries a 3.77 GPA in biological sciences and is a two-time CSCAA Academic All-American.

A student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, a starter or important reserve and possess a minimum 3.2 GPA to be considered for the award.
