10th-Ranked Men's Golf Gearing Up for Dr. Pepper Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern men's golf team, ranked 10th in the country in the latest Mastercard rankings, travels to Texas this weekend for the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate. The tournament is scheduled for March 27-28 at the Tanglewood Resort and Country Club (7,003 yards, par 72) in Pottsboro, Texas.

Challenging NU for the team title are expected to be No. 14 Minnesota and No. 35 Texas-Arlington. Also in the 19-team field are Akron, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Jackson State, Miami (OH), Michigan, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Notre Dame, Penn State, Purdue, Texas Tech, Toledo, Wisconsin and Wichita State.

The teams will play 36 holes on March 27, with the first round beginning at 7:30 a.m. CST. The second round will take place that afternoon with the final round scheduled for Sunday at 7:30 a.m. CST. Northwestern's results will be posted as soon as possible each night on the Wildcats official internet site (nusports.com).

The Wildcats are coming off a 10-stroke team victory at the Aldila Collegiate Classic on March 8-9 in San Diego. Sophomore Luke Donald won that event by two strokes, shooting a three-under-par 213. Donald currently leads the country with a 70.20 stroke average.
